FAQs

  1. What areas of the body can I exfoliate with the Dermastone™ Leg & Body Scrub?

Dermastone™ was originally designed to exfoliate the entire leg and feet. With care, it can also be used on other areas as well such as back and arms. When exfoliating, please adjust your pressure as needed. For example, use lighter pressure on arms and upper body than on lower legs. Do not use the Dermastone Leg & Body Scrub on the face, under arm, or bikini area, as these areas are more delicate and prone to irritation.

  2. I tried the Maximum Exfoliation Method but didn’t see dark rolls of skin like in your videos. Why?

Here are the most common reasons:

    • Skin wasn’t wet enough
Soak in warm water for at least 3 minutes. Move out of direct water flow before scrubbing—this method requires light friction. You shouldn’t towel-dry; the small amount of water left on skin is the perfect balance of slip + friction. If the stone drags, simply splash on more water.

    • Skin was too slippery
If you applied soap, body wash, shaving cream, lotion, or oils before exfoliating, your skin may be too slick for the Dermastone™ to grip properly.

    • You recently exfoliated
If you used a scrub, mitt, brush, AHA/BHA product, or had a wax/shave recently, there may not be much buildup to remove yet.

Important: Even if you don’t see visible rolls of dead skin, you are still exfoliating effectively. Do not increase pressure just to “see results,” as this can cause irritation and is not necessary for a smooth finish. Click to Learn How to Use Dermastone

  3. Why does my skin turn red or feel irritated after using Dermastone™?

This usually happens when scrubbing too hard, too long, or on skin that’s too dry. Dermastone™ is a natural hard stone—use shaving-level pressure (light to medium), especially while learning.

Mild, temporary tenderness can occur (as with any strong exfoliator) and should subside quickly. After a few uses, you’ll naturally learn the ideal pressure and timing for each body area.

Tips to Avoid Redness & Irritation:

    • Use pressure similar to shaving—gentle to moderate

    • Let the stone do the work

    • Visible dead skin varies—sometimes you’ll see more, sometimes less

    • Moisturize afterward to soothe and nourish the skin

  4. Is Dermastone™ suitable for all skin types?

Dermastone™ works well for most people with normal skin (men and women).

    Avoid use if:

    • You have very sensitive or reactive skin

    • Your skin becomes red or irritated easily from friction

    • You have sunburn, open cuts, eczema, body acne, or injuries

    • Wait until the skin is fully healed before exfoliating.

  5. How often should I exfoliate with Dermastone™?

1–2 times per week is recommended. Start with the Regular Method and only move to the Maximum Exfoliation Method once you’ve mastered it and when your skin needs a deeper reset (e.g., after weeks of not exfoliating).

Many users also enjoy using Dermastone™ after workouts to lift away sweat and buildup. Click to Learn How to Use Dermastone

  6. When is the best time to use Dermastone™?

Any time works, but many prefer it at night so they can moisturize and let skin settle as they sleep. If mild redness occurs from scrubbing too firmly, it usually fades overnight.

For best results before a special event, tanning, shaving, or waxing, exfoliate 1–2 days prior.

  7. I saw a lot of buildup the first time, but not the next day. Why?

Your first use likely removed most of the accumulated dead skin. This is a sign of a successful exfoliation. Give your skin a few days to regenerate and continue with the Regular Method for maintenance.

The color and amount of dead skin varies depending on how often you exfoliate:

    • Darker & more visible if it’s been a while

    • Finer & lighter if you exfoliate regularly

    • You may still feel the grainy texture even if you don’t see it.

  8. How long will a Dermastone™ last?

With proper care, it can last a lifetime.
It never dissolves, melts, or needs refilling—making it a smart, waste-free alternative to disposable body scrubs.

  9. How does Dermastone™ help with ingrown hairs?

Regular exfoliation lifts away the dry skin that traps hair beneath the surface. This helps prevent ingrown hairs and allows for a closer shave or more effective wax.

    For best results:

    • Exfoliate 1–2 days before shaving or waxing

    • If you just shaved or waxed, wait 1–2 days before exfoliating

    • Avoid using on the face and bikini area.

  10. Can I use Dermastone™ if I self-tan?

Yes—Dermastone™ creates a smooth, flake-free base for a flawless tan. After exfoliating, use a gentle moisturizer before applying tanning products. Once tanned, exfoliate less often to prolong color. You can also use Dermastone™ to softly correct streaks. Click to Learn How to Use Dermastone

  11. Can I shave, wax, or use other exfoliators right after using Dermastone™?

    • Avoid multiple exfoliation methods on the same day to prevent irritation.

    • Use Dermastone™ 1–2 days before hair removal

    • If you recently shaved or waxed, wait 1–2 days before using

    • Use AHA/BHA, scrubs, or exfoliating lotions on alternate days

  12. What are the benefits of regular exfoliation?

    Regular exfoliation helps:

    • Remove buildup of dead skin

    • Speed up skin renewal for brightness and radiance

    • Soften rough texture

    • Reduce or prevent ingrown hairs

    • Improve the feel of skin after shaving or waxing

  13. Is Dermastone™ the same as pumice or volcanic rock?

No. Those are much rougher, more abrasive stones meant for thick calluses on feet. Dermastone™ has a smoother, finer texture, designed for legs and safe for other body areas when used with care.

  14. How do I clean my Dermastone™?

    After each use:
Rinse well and air-dry (or place in sunlight).

    Deep clean occasionally:
Scrub with dish soap using a toothbrush, rinse, and air-dry. To sanitize, you may boil for 5 minutes and allow to cool fully before use.

For sanitary reasons, do not share your Dermastone Leg & Body Scrub with others
